Description (last modified by curtis) (diff)

The Data Converter application is a good start on a general-purpose export GUI. VisBio also has an export GUI that was created before Bio-Formats existed. It would be nice if these interfaces could be unified under a common API. We could create a new package, loci.formats.gui, containing such components, and move the existing ImageViewer into it as well.

The loci.formats.gui package now exists, and ImageViewer lives there, but I still have to migrate the Movie Stitcher there. I'll probably call it "Data Converter" and will also consider making it the default bio-formats.jar application.

The Bio-Formats Importer plugin can now open a dataset in ImageJ as a virtual stack, which can then be saved using the Bio-Formats Exporter plugin or ImageJ's native Save function. Such a procedure needs very little memory, and can be used to convert between file formats or reorganize the stack order. As such, a dedicated Data Converter application is probably no longer warranted.
